Our Vision

Godolphin & Latymer has a long-standing commitment to providing outstanding teaching for learning. With the introduction of new technologies from iPads to drones and virtual reality learning we are constantly looking for new ways to help our pupils learn more effectively and more deeply. We see technology as a compliment to our existing teaching expertise rather than a replacement for it.

Our Projects

With contributions from G&L teachers, Jonathan writes and maintains a regular internal blog focused on helping teachers to employ iPads to improve learning and ease workflows in the classroom. Some topics covered in the past include "Tracking Spaced Practice in Nearpod," "Hinge Questions on the iPad," "Google Slides for Work Sharing," and "The Muddiest Point." Staff are encouraged to share ideas and professional learning about teaching with technology through regular iPad tips, blog postings, and lunchtime sharing sessions.

Godolphin and Latymer are delighted to have been selected as one of the UK's #EdTech50 schools. This is an elite group of flagship institutions that have been chosen to represent the best of digital learning throughout the country. Entries were judged by a panel of experts from across education, media, and the third sector and the award is backed by the Education Foundation, Chartered College of Teaching, ISC Digital Strategy Group, JISC, TES, Intel, and others.

Since 2017, Godolphin & Latymer have been proud to play host to the West London Apple RTC. As a Regional Training Centre, we partner with Apple to offer free continuing professional development to teachers at G&L and partner institutions. This year we are running a Teacher Learning Community themed upon "Redefining Teaching & Learning Using Technology." Immersive technology is still a newly developing field in education, but it is already being used by the British Army, NHS and Cross Rail as an effective learning tool. As part of an internally funded action research project, G&L are trialling a wide variety of augmented, mixed and virtual reality apps to investigate their impact on our inquisitive and ambitious learners.

In 2017 the PFTA generously funded the purchase of a drone for the school to use in lessons. We have been using it for sports days, field-studies and student learning, gaining a new perspective and some amazing footage.

Our Staff Team

Claire Badger is a Senior Teacher at Godolphin and Latymer responsible for the school's Digital Strategy in Teaching and Learning. Claire planned and managed the introduction of iPads at G&L and oversees the school's contribution as an Apple Regional Training Centre. She is a pioneer in using technology in her Chemistry Lessons, encouraging flip-learning, low-stakes testing and interleaving through a wide variety of apps and activities. She manages the Teaching and Learning Communities at G&L and regularly organises training events for staff, pupils, parents and PGCE and NQT students in the use of technology in the classroom.

Katie Tallett-Williams is a member of the Geography Department at Godolphin and Latymer. She has a particular interest in using technology to enhance teaching and learning, assisting as a Staff-Digital Leader to help roll-out the use of iPads for both teachers and students at G&L. Katie has worked to develop the Geography Department's use of technology while in the field and enjoys researching how new technology can bring field-work back into the classroom. In conjunction with the Physics Department and the generous support of the PTFA, Katie collaborated in the purchase of the DJI Mavic Pro Drone and its use on field-work projects. She is also leading the action research project on the use of technology in enhancing experiential learning, acting as the school contact for the ISC Virtual Reality Project. In 2018 Katie was named a Google Certified Innovator for her work in developing the potential for virtual field trips.

Jonathan White is the Digital Learning Lead at Godolphin & Latymer, manages the West London Apple Regional Training Centre, and writes the @Godolphin digital learning blog. Jonathan works with teachers at G&L and through the RTC to help them use technology effectively to support teaching and learning. He holds a Master's degree in Educational Media & Technology from Boston University, and has more than twenty years' experience training lecturers, teachers, students and staff in secondary and higher education settings. Jonathan has a particular interest in metacognition and low-stakes assessment, and the ways that they can be supported by mobile and cloud-based technologies. He has driven the adoption of G Suite at Godolphin & Latymer, and collaborates with the IT department for the management and support of the school's 1:1 iPad program. In 2019 Jonathan was named an Apple Distinguished Educator, an exclusive group of dedicated educators around the globe who are realising the potential for technology to improve teaching and learning in the classroom.
